For
much of the first decade of the 21st Century, poker has been the #1 search term in the world, edging out the likes of
Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. On top of that, poker is one of the most valuable search terms, with tens of thousands
of seriously-focused websites competing to rank for that one-word and related terms.
Despite that, few poker sites have engaged in sensible website optimization and very few talented Internet marketers have ventured into the field.
Go figure.
This site focuses on examinations of the largest online poker rooms and top (by traffic) information/portal sites; what SEO and
search marketing are; and commentary on search developments relating to the top poker sites and the search engines themselves.
Articles and observations will be added to the "news and commentary" section linked at the left as appropriate.
Change occurs on a daily basis in the search engine world, but it is not always notable. Important changes occur intermittently.
Weeks could go by without a major change, or major developments could occur two or three or even four days in a row. This is
why search marketing is not for the lazy or unobservant.
Most people will be able to learn a lot from this site, though it isn't my intention to tell you how to make millions
marketing poker on the Internet. This site exists to offer news and opinions regarding something that remarkably (at the
time the site opened) no other website focuses on, despite how popular, profitable and important the topic is. The opinions
will sometimes be right and sometimes be wrong. There is a lot of speculating in this business, and nobody is always right...
which brings us to the final goal of this site: to try to help to the folks running the search engines make their not-very-good
products better (you know who you guys are :) because quality websites need quality search engines.
Finally, basic articles explain "white versus black hat" as well as spam and spam fighting. Just so you know beforehand,
this site supports user-friendly, guideline compliant actions. Call it white hat if you want, but that is the philosophy here,
if for no other reason than the most basic... in the poker niche, white hat is where the money is. -- Steve Badger |
